Welcome to the Astronomy Enthusiasts of Lancaster County’s Official Website!

Welcome to the web site of the AELC. We are an amateur astronomy club located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, focused on the science of astronomy. Whether you are just starting out in Astronomy and would like to learn your way around the night sky, or need help choosing a telescope, or if you are a seasoned amateur astronomer and would like to share your observing experiences and skills, the AELC is one of the best resources in the county.

Meetings – Our club meets monthly at the Lititz Public Library and all meetings are open to the public free of charge. The presentation subject of the next meeting is in the Calendar.

Star Watches – The AELC has conducted public star watches in the past several years in the Lancaster area but for 2018 we have decided to move our public outreach efforts to the new Muddy Run Observatory (MRO). MRO is located Muddy Run Park near Holtwood, PA. This is one of the darkest sites in Lancaster County and the facilities are first class. The dates of the MRO public star watches are listed in our club calendar and they are free of any charge. For more information, follow this link: http://www.muddyrunobservatory.com/ and then click on either the “FaceBook” or “Night Sky Network” buttons. We hope to see you there!

Calendar – Our calendar contains all club meetings and star watches as well as interesting astronomical events that can be viewed from Lancaster County.
